Draughtsman
Description:
Position for Draughtsman available in Midrand. The candidate will be required to design and draught site surveys for the planning and design of last mile Fibre Optic Infrastructure alongside the Fibre Planer.
Requirements:
Comprehensive understanding and knowledge of Fibre Optics and the Telecommunications industry.
o Previous draughting and planning experience within the Fibre Optics and Telecommunications industry.
o Extensive experience with all Microsoft Office programs with substancial experience working with MS Visio.
o Candidate must possess good time management skills
o Own vehicle and a valid drivers licence
o Own Laptop
Roles and Responsibilities:
o The candidate will be required to plan and draught OSP Backhaul, feeder link and aggregation routes.
o The candidate will be required to plan and draught preliminary and secondary high and low level designs.
o The candidate will be required to create comprehensive BOQ’s and BOS in conjunction with project planning.
o Design and planning for Layer 2 and 3 designs
Required Education:
o Diploma or certificate in draughting along with 2 years draughting experience.
o Additional training will be provided.
o Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Fibre Technician
The Technician will be responsible for the installation, operation, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and repair of Fibre Optic Networks. The candidate is required to ensure the proper functioning, installation, maintenance, repair, calibration, security, distribution and utilization of voice, data, video and fibre-optic network wiring and all associated equipment, conduit and racking systems. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: o Field Safety and Quality Control o Leadership and Guidance of Field Crews o Onsite Material Management o Field Reporting and Document Control o Coordination with other trades o Estimate, install, start up and Commissioning of all Systems o Extensive Fibre Optic Splicing and operation of multiple brand Fibre Optic Splicing equipment o Extensive Fibre Optic testing and operation of OTDR’s, Power Meter and Light Source Testers of multiple brand equipment. o Successful comprehensive analysation of test results within the field and industry standard specifications. o Management of installation projects and teams Qualifications, experience and skills required: o Certified Fibre Optic Training (FOA (CFOT and CFOS/D/H) recommended) o Proven experience in designing and supervising installation of large structured Fibre Optic projects o Previous experience working with single and multi modefiber optics cabling o Must be able to perform any link testing and acceptance testing o Proven experience in in-field splicing and terminating large multi pair cables o Must have estimation and design experience o 5+ years experience in installation and commissioning of complex voice, data, video and fibre-optic networking. o Must be computer literate to a high degree and be MS Office literate o Must be able to communicate effectively with the onsite personnel regarding system layout and functionality. o Must be able to provide customer training on the installed systems. o Must be able to understand and develop technical solutions to highly complex field problems fibre-optic networking. o Must be well-organized. o Must have the ability to work on own initiative o Must be able to work well within a team o The candidate must be able to provide comprehensive reporting o A valid driver’s license Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Senior Fibre Planner
The candidate will be required to conduct on-site technical surveys for the planning and design of last mile Fibre Optic Infrastructure. The candidate is to produce practical designs that provide value engineered designs. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: o Travel to survey sites to conduct on-site technical surveys o Plan and design practical cost effective and efficient plans o Provide design expertise on route design and utilise best practice technologies, materials and installation methods o Create comprehensive BOQ and BOS o Design Layer 1 and 2 Networks o Work closely with the Draughtsman to plan the most efficient and practical installation. Qualifications, experience and skills required: o The candidate must be extremely technically adept and be able to self-train and keep abreast of latest technology trends. o Extensive knowledge of the Fibre Optic Telecommunications industry o Extensive knowledge of Fibre optic technology: o Point to Point/Active Ethernet o GPON o GEPON o XPON o XGSPON / NGPON2 o Extensive experience with all MS Office programs o Extensive experience with MS VISIO, AutoCAD and Google Earth and similar GIS platforms o Previous Fibre Optic related certifications. o Valid Drivers Licence and own transport o Own Laptop Salary will be commensurate with experience.
